MCC Panel & Motor Control Panel Manufacturer in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

Akshayam Controls & Automation builds custom Motor Control Centre (MCC) panels for factories and process plants. The same board gets called a motor control panel, a 3 phase motor starter panel, an electric motor starter panel, a star delta starter panel or a motor control center panel.

An MCC groups every motor feeder into one compartmented enclosure — starters, overload relays, isolators and metering in modular sections rather than starter boxes scattered across the shop floor. That means one place to isolate a motor and one place to trace a trip. Starting method is set feeder by feeder: DOL, star delta, soft starter or VFD. Construction follows the same logic — fixed or draw-out modules, with separation up to Form 4b as per IS 8623 / IEC 61439.

Switchgear is Schneider Electric, Siemens, C&S Electric, L&T (L&K) or ABB, with optional door-mounted HMI and intelligent motor control centre (iMCC) diagnostics, and ship with as-built drawings and a spares list for straightforward maintenance and troubleshooting. We supply Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Madurai and Trichy, throughout Tamil Nadu, plus Bengaluru and Karnataka, Kochi and Kerala, and projects across South India — often alongside PCC panels, PLC control panels and VFD panels from the same works.

What is a Motor Control Centre (MCC) Panel?

A Motor Control Centre panel is a compartmented enclosure holding the starting and protection gear for every motor in a plant: starters, breakers or fuse-switch units, overload relays, control transformers, contactors and indication. Instead of a starter beside each machine, they sit together in one panel room — away from dust, water and process heat, behind one lockable door.

Each motor gets its own module, so a fault on one feeder does not take out the rest and any drive can be isolated for work while the plant keeps running. Starting method is chosen per motor from kW rating and duty — a 3 kW pump does not need what a 75 kW compressor needs. Control wiring lands on terminal blocks ready for an HMI, PLC, DCS or SCADA link, while door interlocks, shrouded busbars, a full-length earth bar and padlockable isolators cover electrical safety during maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key Features of Our MCC Panels

Centralised Motor Control

Every starter, relay and isolator in one motor control center panel — one place to switch, isolate and supervise the plant's motors.

Motor Protection & Electrical Safety

Overload relays, single-phase preventers and short-circuit protection sized per motor, backed by door interlocks, shrouded busbars and a full-length earth bar for electrical safety.

Starter Options Per Feeder

DOL, star delta, soft starter or VFD selected motor by motor — a star delta starter panel section for the medium drives, DOL for the small ones, VFD where the process wants speed control.

Branded Switchgear

Contactors, relays, MCCBs and overloads from ABB, C&S Electric, Siemens, Schneider Electric and L&T (L&K), chosen for coordination and easy spares.

Organised Panel Layout

Logical module order, printed ferrules, colour-coded control wiring and labelled terminal blocks — maintenance and troubleshooting take minutes, not hours.

Metering & Monitoring

Ammeters, voltmeters, indication lamps and multi-function meters so an overloaded drive is visible before it trips.

HMI, iMCC & Automation Ready

Control terminals and interposing relays wired out for PLC, DCS or SCADA, with an optional door-mounted HMI and intelligent motor control centre (iMCC) relays for per-feeder diagnostics.

Form 4b, Draw-out & Expansion

Compartmented modules to Form 4b where specified, fixed or draw-out execution, accessible busbar chambers and spare feeder slots — adding a motor later is a module, not a new panel.

Motor Starting & Control Solutions

Starting method is decided per motor, from its rating, its starting torque and what the driven machine can tolerate. Our MCC panels take any combination of the following in the same board:

DOL Starter

Direct-on-line: full voltage, full torque, instantly. The simplest and cheapest electric motor starter panel, and the right choice for smaller motors where the inrush doesn't trouble the supply.

Star-Delta Starter

Cuts starting current to roughly a third by starting in star and switching to delta. A star delta starter panel is the standard choice for medium pumps, compressors and fans that start unloaded, and is the 3 phase motor starter panel we are asked for most often.

Soft Starter

Ramps voltage up and down smoothly, protecting belts, gearboxes and couplings, and eliminating water hammer in pumping systems.

VFD-Based Control

Variable frequency drive for speed control on fans, blowers and conveyors — process control plus a real cut in energy consumption on variable loads.

Custom Control Schemes

Interlocked sequences, duty/standby changeover, auto-restart logic and process-specific control circuits built to your specification.

MCC Panel Applications Across Industries

Textile Industries

Ring frames, carding lines, blowroom fans and humidification pumps — star delta starter panel sections for the larger frames, in mills where a stopped drive stops production.

Engineering Industries

Sand plant machinery, air blowers, compressors and conveyor loops in foundries and fabrication units.

Automobile Industries

Assembly line conveyors, paint booth exhaust fans, cooling towers and compressed air systems.

Food Processing

Mixers, conveyors, chilling pumps and extraction motors, with washdown-tolerant panel siting and hygienic layout.

Water Treatment Plants

Raw water and dosing pumps, sludge agitators, blowers and backwash valves — usually with duty/standby interlocking and draw-out modules on the critical pumps.

Pharmaceutical

Cleanroom AHUs, chilled water pumps, blenders and packaging drives — often with HMI and Form 4b separation, wired for validation-friendly documentation.

Industrial Applications of MCC Panels

Across plant utilities, the MCC is what keeps the auxiliaries starting reliably and safely:

Pumps & Fluid Handling

Submersible and booster pumps, agitators, dosing sets and cooling water circulation loops.

Industrial Fans & Blowers

Humidification fans, dust extraction, exhaust systems and combustion air supply.

Conveyor Systems

Sequential start and stop for multi-stage material handling and packaging lines, with interlocks so belts start in the right order.

HVAC & Compressors

Air handling units, chillers, exhaust hoods and compressed air packages.

Frequently Asked Questions About MCC Panels

What is an MCC panel?

A Motor Control Centre (MCC) panel is a compartmented assembly that houses the starters, protection and control gear for multiple motors in one enclosure, in modular vertical sections. It is also known as a motor control panel, a 3 phase motor starter panel, an electric motor starter panel or a motor control center panel. Separation between those sections is specified as a form — Form 1 up to Form 4b under IS 8623 / IEC 61439 — and the modules can be fixed or draw-out.

What is the difference between an MCC panel and a PCC panel?

A PCC panel distributes incoming power across the plant; an MCC panel controls and protects the motors. In most installations the PCC feeds the MCCs. We build both — see our PCC panels page.

Which switchgear brands do you use in your MCC panels?

ABB, Schneider Electric, C&S Electric, Siemens and L&T (L&K) — contactors, overload relays, MCCBs, MPCBs and metering. If your plant standardises on one make, we build to it so your spares inventory still fits.

What is the difference between DOL and star-delta starters?

A DOL starter applies full voltage immediately — simple and cheap, with a starting current around six times full load. A star-delta starter starts the motor in star and switches to delta, cutting starting current to roughly a third. A star delta starter panel suits medium pumps, compressors and fans that start unloaded, and is the most commonly requested 3 phase motor starter panel.

What types of motors can an MCC panel control?

Three-phase AC induction motors across the usual plant range — pumps, blowers, compressors, conveyors, exhaust fans, agitators and production machinery. Feeder rating and starter type are set per motor from its kW rating and duty.

Can MCC panels be customised?

Yes. Feeder count and ratings, starting method per motor, fixed or draw-out execution, form of separation up to Form 4b, control voltage, interlocking logic, metering, HMI, enclosure dimensions and cable entry are all built to your requirement.

Can MCC panels be integrated with PLC automation?

Yes. Control terminals, auxiliary contacts and interposing relays are wired out ready for PLC, DCS or SCADA, enabling remote start/stop, sequence control and live status feedback. A door-mounted HMI can be added for local operation, and an intelligent motor control centre (iMCC) build gives per-feeder current, trip cause and runtime data over the same link.

What details do you need to give a quotation?

Your motor list with kW ratings and quantities, preferred starting method per motor, incoming supply rating, control voltage, any interlocking or automation requirement, and the space available. If you don't have a schedule ready, our engineers can work from your machine list.

Do you manufacture MCC panels in Coimbatore?

Yes. Design, fabrication, assembly, wiring and testing are all carried out at our works in Gandhi Maa Nagar, Peelamedu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and you are welcome to inspect the panel before dispatch. Our engineers also provide maintenance and troubleshooting support after commissioning.

Do you supply MCC panels across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala?

Yes. We supply and support MCC panels across Tamil Nadu — including Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Madurai, Trichy and Chennai — and dispatch regularly to Bengaluru and across Karnataka, to Kochi and across Kerala, and to industrial projects throughout South India.
